Summary

Ken Tang is a Certified Master Architect (CMA) at Thirdera. He’s always had a competitive nature and a deep interest in technology, which led him to work as a system administrator. However, he felt bored and dissatisfied in this role. He dreamed of a career where he could use technology to help people, rather than just pounding away at a keyboard. The final straw came when he looked at his exhausted IT director and asked, “Is this the future I want?” It wasn’t. So, Ken found a better path by joining the ServiceNow ecosystem, where he could combine his technical expertise with the opportunity to improve people’s lives. He’s earned multiple certifications, tackled complex challenges for top clients, and achieved the pinnacle of ServiceNow success as a CMA. And he’s committed to mentoring others, inspiring them to break free and embrace their own fulfilling career journey in the ServiceNow ecosystem.

A passion for technology

Ken Tang was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, where his competitive nature shaped much of his early life. Especially when it came to sports, Ken always strove to be the best. That drive led him to pursue a career in IT. After attending college, he worked in a number of roles in IT, ending up as an Active Directory and Exchange administrator. But he rapidly became bored. And, when he looked at his exhausted, overworked, and poorly compensated IT director, Ken asked himself a pivotal question, “Is this the future I want?” The answer was no—he wanted to achieve more. For Ken, more meant working with people. He wanted to stay in technology, but he didn’t just want to be a keyboard warrior. He wanted to use his skills and expertise to positively impact people and improve their lives.

Ken’s career with ServiceNow advanced rapidly as he embraced diverse roles—including presales, business analysis, and project management—before returning to the technical path as an architect. Along the way, he earned certifications as a Certified Application Developer (CAD) and Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) across five ServiceNow products, showcasing his ability to translate complex technology into impactful solutions.
