Starting over after years away from the workforce
Yaimara Narito is a military spouse who dedicated 22 years to supporting her husband’s career and raising their three children. Bringing up a family gave her a deep sense of joy and fulfillment, but she also had to put many of her other aspirations on hold. Then, as her husband neared retirement and her children became adults, she saw the opportunity to build a career of her own. She knew the first step was to gain qualifications that would hopefully open doors with employers. So, she returned to college and, in 2019, graduated with a degree in business administration and a minor in cybersecurity.
Facing setbacks but refusing to give up
After moving back to Texas from Germany in 2020, Yaimara began her job search, but the road was far more difficult than she had imagined. Despite completing a six-month cybersecurity boot camp and earning a certificate, months of applications led to nothing. Even a site reliability engineering program that promised job placement failed to deliver, leaving Yaimara frustrated and desperate.
Everything changed when her husband, a year away from retirement, introduced her to the DoD Skillbridge program. ServiceNow partners with Skillbridge, offering a 16-week virtual ServiceNow training course. This provided the perfect opportunity for Yaimara to rebuild her confidence and set the foundation for a fulfilling career. She applied and was accepted, taking the first step toward a brighter future.
Rebuilding confidence through training
Yaimara approached the training program with both nerves and determination, mastering new material each week. Her hard work paid off when she passed her Certified System Administrator (CSA) exam early, gaining a key qualification. With ServiceNow’s support in job searching and networking, Yaimara became active in the ServiceNow Community, attended Knowledge 2023, and expanded her skills and connections, setting the stage for her career transformation.
Finding her fit and flourish in tech
A contact at Cask encouraged Yaimara to apply for an open role, confident she’d be a great fit. After two successful interviews, she received the job offer just one day before attending Knowledge—a turning point in her journey. And she's made great strides since joining Cask, including becoming a Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) for ITSM and a Certified Application Developer (CAD). Next up is her CIS for Security Incident Response, which she's working on right now. Yaimara says that becoming part of the ServiceNow ecosystem changed her life. Instead of stress and despair, she now feels it's her time to blossom—it's where she was always meant to be.
Yaimara’s story is a powerful reminder that with determination, the right opportunities, and a willingness to grow, it’s never too late to start a new career journey you’re proud of. Start yours today and see where a career on the ServiceNow platform can lead you.
