Hi Andre, after the San Diego Health Simulator was released there was a configuration issue on the instances that did not provide the correct data to successfully work through some tasks which may be part of the reason you were having some issues.

To remedy this, you can terminate your simulator, and request a new one that will have the correct configuration to complete the tasks successfully. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks.

Hello,

After an instance termination, I am unable to activate again the CMDB multisource option.

The plugin is installed, the sys_property is created, but I cannot find the CMDB multisource option in the Nav or the corresponding table.

This is my second instance where this fails ...

Thank you

How do you complete the simulator after 80%, is there a button to verify the entire thing and move on?

Hi Kevin, each task needs to be complete to display 100%. The tasks complete should be indicated on the left nav. If you complete them all and only see 80% please open a case from the Now Learning menu bar. Thanks.

The simulators do not need 100% to pass them, once you exceed 80% they can be certified and completed. I simply don't see the option.

Hello @glenn_pinto I've completed Tasks 2-6 without any issues. However Task7 I'm getting the error message: Did you execute the scheduled job for the Compliance scorecard to update the dashboard? Your results should match the graphic.

Compliance > Desired State > Audits. I did match the graphic.

VERIFICATION isn't matching the group. Yet the prior tasks 2-6 were passed/completed. I don't think I've skipped any steps among the prior tasks. I've also executed all of the scheduled scripted executions.

Hello @glenn_pinto  I'm still stuck on task 7 as stated above. I'm also having an issue with Task 10. Is there any way of resetting it? I'm currently getting the following error:

Did you retain the oldest CI record, then merge Assigned To, Company, and Cost Center from the duplicate, and then delete the duplicate?

I also have displayed 6 Solaris Servers and 1 AIX Server

@Dona Ranatunga1 Looks like there is a plus sign in the short description that is probably throwing off the code that grades the task. Either manually remove it and validate the task again, or edit the workflow to remove that plus sign and run the remediation again.

Hello, Professor Pinto! I apologize if I sound rude or informal within this comment. However, within the CMDB Health Simulator, I am having difficulty with Tasks 7, 10, and 12.

Tasks 7 and 10 have provided product documentation that does not give enough information on what the next step is regarding audits and de-duplication. Task 12 is running an error with the Query Builder, where the results would not show, which is needed to validate the task.

Many apologies for any unintentional rudeness or informality within the message, but I need some clarification or some help with the Query Builder.

Task06 does not become Clear.
The Health Simulator Task06 in CMDB Fundamentals does not give the correct answer and gives an error.
The configuration results seem to indicate that there is no problem.
Can you please let me know if there is a mistake or not?

Hi. TakeshiHor, the scripts can be very specific what they are looking for. In this case it may be that you did not name your filter as listed. It should be Windows Servers Filter. Servers has an "s". Try to modify the name and try again. Thanks.

Hi Satir, not positive by what you mean not saving. After you create your certification filter and click Submit, the record should appears under the certification filter tab. Please try the steps again and see if you are able to reproduce. Thanks.

@Satiir Stevenso is this task to create an orphan rule? if so that relationship should be in the drop down with all the other relationships. also please review the lesson and video on creating orphan rules in the CMDB Fundamentals class. We demonstrate everything. Thanks.

Hi Glenn -

I figured it out.  The instructions threw me off... instead of using the Unix subclasses, if I use the cmdb_ci_unix_server class I get the right count.

one more thing...  although I got the right numbers, the task would not validate.  I had to change the class on the 7 UNIX servers to HPUX Servers and then it worked.

@Barbara Manvill Hi Barbara, glad you figured out the task. Yes the validations are script based and as you know there is more than 1 way to sometimes solve a task. The script tries to be flexible and the instructions specific enough to achieve a successful validation result. That is interesting the way it worked for you as the filter created on UNIX Server should include all the children classes such as AIX, HPUX, Soloris? Thank your for your persistence in completing this task and providing the feedback that you did as it can help others if they run into the same issue.

Hello, I'm really stuck on this task 6, since the initial understanding of how to create the certification filters, it wasn't clear which filters should be created. I also have doubts about the certification model, I'm very confused and unable to proceed to finish this task. Could you show me how the registration of the initial filters is done?

I even included those below, but I'm pretty sure that's wrong.

@Ladyofthesun There is a note at the bottom of the task that states:

NOTE: For additional guidance, please review the lesson on CMDB Health Dashboard > CMDB Health Dashboard - Compliance Scorecard in the CMDB Fundamentals course to provide guidance on how to create a compliance audit.

Please review this content. There is a deep explanation and demo of this functionality that should address your questions.

Thanks.

Hi Glenn, I have same issue as Barbara Manvill with Task 3 - I have added all the classes but UX class is not pulling the UX CIs. I checked in CI Class Mgr, there are no CIs under UX server, so it doesn't make difference how many times I execute the completeness job.

Unix Xerver Empty.JPG

NB: Resolved - I have created 7 new dummy CIs under the UX Server Class but it was not nice to go this way.

glenn_pinto
ServiceNow Employee
ServiceNow Employee

@Rado Ehlenov thanks for working through the task. Yes because you set up a group with specific classes, does not mean that there are records for that class that exist in the current CMDB, but they could exist in the future.

You also have two options when setting up groups. You can create a specific encoded query for a class such as AIX, HPUX etc, or you can just create the query at the parent class level such as UNIX Server which includes the Unix Server class and all of its child classes such as AIX, HPUX etc.

Before validating the task, there is the self verification with a note that states: NOTE: 146 Windows and Unix Servers should display as part of the scope for the group. The staleness metric and overall health score can vary.

So if your dashboard displays the same number based on how you set up the group, you should be good. But again if you create dummy records, this will affect that number and also possibly affect the validation script when clicking the Validate button.

Hope this helps. thanks.

Hi @glenn_pinto

I am having trouble with task 10 and was instructed to post my question here.

I believe I incorrectly remediated the duplicate Windows Server CI. Can this be undone? Screenshot (7).pngI only see one option with Window ServersI only see one option with Window Servers

glenn_pinto

@mroney1 looks like you remediated the correct duplicates CIs. Task 10 states the following: As the Cloud Dimensions CMDB administrator, using the Duplicate CI Remediator wizard (De-duplication tasks), remediate the duplicate Windows Server CI found on the de-duplication task list to meet the following requirements...is the task not validating?

After remediating the duplicate windows server, the end of the requirement states the following: After completing the wizard, execute the Correctness Scorecard scheduled job to calculate the new results and display them on the CMDB Group Health Correctness Scorecard for the Unix and Windows Servers CMDB group.

hope this helps.

For the Remediate Duplicate task, we have had 1000's of people go through this task, so I am assuming something is being missed if it is not validating. The Verification section has you check your work visually before you attempt to click the validate button to confirm your work is done correctly.

Is states:

1. From the Duplicate metric, verify only 7 of 145 records display as duplicates

@awalley I see you display 7 of 146 which makes me believe you did not remediate the duplicate Windows server in your instance.

2. From the Unix and Windows Server group view,  from the Group View - Duplicate CIs report, verify it displays 6 Solaris Servers and 1 AIX Server (no Windows servers)

3.
From the Windows Server list of records, verify there is only one record for Server OWA-SD-01 with the following attributes:

- Cost Center: Customer Support

- Company: ACME Australia

- Assigned to: Kyle Ferri

4. From the De-Duplication Task list verify the Windows task displays with a State of Closed Complete.

Lastly, there is a note at the end of the task that states, if this task fails to validate, please review the Duplicate CI Handling section in the CMDB Remediation Capabilities course to make sure you have performed the tasks correctly. Note this is part of the CMDB Fundamentals course > Maintain the Health of the CMDB > Remediate Capabilities. There is detailed training here plus a demo video detailing the entire remediation process.

@mroney1 if the above are all verified on your instance, the validation should work. If it still does not, from the top right please open a case and state the issue. Thank you.
