Hello Community,
I’m new to Asset Management and currently working on a task to investigate Asset Tags with empty Configuration Items (CIs). I understand that the **Configuration Item** field is a reference field.
Could the reason for an empty CI be that the related CIs were not present in the system before the asset data was imported? If so, should the CIs be created in the CMDB first to ensure they are properly linked to the assets during the import process?
I’d appreciate guidance on the following:
a) What are some other possible reasons why a hardware asset record might not be linked to a CI?
b) What is the standard process for importing Asset Serial Number data into the CMDB?
c) How can I identify the import table and the target table where the records are being created?
