Can MID-less ACC be used for ACC-V, or does it require DEX?

We have rolled out ACC-V for our on-prem Linux and Windows servers. We have some servers that exist in a DMZ environment outside of the corporate firewall. I would love to utilize MID-less ACC to have those agents connect directly to the instance instead of coming inside the firewall to my MID servers (or having to spin up MID servers outside the firewall for them).
Can MID-less ACC be used for ACC-V? Or does it require DEX? Because the only doc I have found that talks about it is under the DEX documentation.

Hi Steve, I got a response from ServiceNow that MID-less does work however it does not support the use of patterns for discovery with ACC-V. For that you need a MID server to collect the data from ACC-V.
While that sounds odd, there is still a reason for us to use a MID with ACC-V is that in our environment firewall rules are set at the server level, so an agent sending data to a MID over HTTPS is easier to configure than getting each server owner to agree to firewall rules for horizontal discovery.
We are looking at MID-less though for end user devices with ACC-V as we aren't getting the complete software data from Intune and Nexthink compared to what we used to be able to get from SCCM. This gives us the possibility to replace Nexthink with DEX in the future.

Thanks for the update, Andrew. I had not caught that part about the patterns, so that would rule it out.
I agree on the end user devices. We are looking at that possibility as well.
