Hi All,
I have a query on how to populate an attribute to categorize Network Gear CIs based on certain characteristics.
For example, I have noticed that Laptops and Desktops are usually tracked in cmdb_ci_computer with different Form Factors (Form factor attribute is used). Likewise, if there something similar for Network Gear?
1) Is Device Type the right attribute to be used?
2) What about the legacy fields Category and Subcategory? Can they be used?
Thanks
Balu

Hi @balu_one ,
If the data is coming from discovery then you have to manage the OIDs in the "discovery_snmp_oid" table which will decide in which class the data will be inserted .
Or if data is not from discovery then it's a good option to use the "Device type" field to classify the data and coming to the Category and Sub-Category field they are just string fields in "cmdb_ci_netgear" so no use of them here in this context.
Hope this helps you, Please do mark it as helpful . And accept the solution.
