CIs for reporting purpose

Hi All,

 

Could you please help  me with CI class where i can put all the CIs which are just related to reporting purpose. Please let me know if there is any OOB class.If there is any Miscellaneous class which i can use for this .CIs would be used for reporting purpose ,So we can not create in Windows or Linux table .CIs would be batch operations.

Hi,

Configuration Items are not classified according to their "purpose". They are classified to describe what they are. 

The more detailed classification the deeper in the hierarchy. The least detailed CIs would be stored in the Configuration Item (cmdb_ci) table (CI Class) which is on top of the CMDB. But your mission should then be to move them to a child table for better classification.

 

In my opinion, what you are trying to do is not aligned with the mission of a CMDB. Maybe a custom table is more suitable.
