The error message "a related ci will not be created as the asset ci classification doesn't exist" that you are encountering when trying to create a new record in the CMDB_CI_Hardware or CMDB_CI_Cluster table typically indicates that the necessary classifications for the Configuration Item (CI) you are trying to create are not set up correctly or are missing.
To resolve this issue, you'll need to check the classifications that are associated with the CI you are trying to create and ensure that the necessary classifications are set up correctly.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
Check the Classification field on the form: Ensure that the Classification field on the form is set to the correct value. This field is used to specify the type of CI you are trying to create, and the value must match one of the classifications that are available in the system.
Verify the classification exists: Ensure that the classification specified in the Classification field actually exists in the system. You can check this by navigating to System Definition > CI Class Manager, and verifying that the classification you specified is listed.
Check the dependencies: Ensure that any dependencies for the classification specified in the Classification field are also set up correctly. These dependencies can include other classifications, tables, or fields that are required for the CI you are trying to create.
Check the Asset CI Classification: The error message also states that the Asset CI Classification is not set. Verify that the Asset CI Classification has been set correctly in the Asset module.
Check for any recent updates or upgrades: Sometimes, an update or upgrade to the system can cause issues with classifications. Check if there have been any recent updates or upgrades to the system, and if so, consult the release notes or reach out to ServiceNow support for more information.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the
issue with the classifications and create new records in the CMDB_CI_Hardware or CMDB_CI_Cluster table.
Additionally, you can also check the system log to see if there are any other related error messages. This could provide more information about the exact cause of the issue and help you troubleshoot it more effectively.
It's also important to ensure that your account has the necessary permissions to create new records in the CMDB_CI_Hardware or CMDB_CI_Cluster table.
If the issue persists, and you are unable to resolve it on your own, it's recommended to reach out to ServiceNow support for further assistance. They can help you identify the root cause of the issue and provide guidance on how to resolve it.
Kindly mark the response as Correct or Helpful.
