What isthe purpose of creating CMDB 'default' type Group and where is using ?

I have also unsuccessfully searched for this information. I'm pretty curious whether anyone has an answer.

A few years later and this is still unanswerred, even in the documentation... All we have is this: "Default: Basic group type which can be populated by manually adding CIs, saved queries, and encoded queries."
