Does CMDB provide an historic traceability of asset allocations? For example, laptops. A laptop is assigned to a new hire or contractor on this date, the new hire returns the laptop on this date. The laptop is then assigned to Jane doe on this date....

Hi,

Technically, assets are stored in the Asset tables not the CMDB. The CMDB contains Configuration items.

Yes, if you audit the Assigned to attribute you can trace changes of the assignment. Works for both Asset and CI.
