Data Certification question about the Fail button.

Kenneth Mogense
Tera Contributor

The question is coming from my business how the "Fail" button on a Certification Task should be leveraged.

For those using the CMDB Workspace Certifications, please share how you are using the Fail button and your process when the fail is used.

Thanks.........

The Fail button is in the CMDBTASK.

This means that if a certified user does not update the certificate record due to not having access to make changes in the field, the record will be marked as Fail.

That is a great question!

The only scenario I would see the "Fail" option to be useful is when the person that is performing the certification does NOT have edit/write permissions to the target record being certified.

Otherwise, if the field that is being certified is NOT correct, it would make more procedural sense to have the person performing the certification to edit the field to the correct value and then "Certify".

I have seen this scenario occur and there is a blue banner message within CMDB Workspace that notates the person does not have necessary permissions to edit the field.
