Hi All,
Can anyone help me to understand the difference between CMDB Data Management Certification Policy and Data Certification?
When I checked from my end,
For data certification:
Navigate to Data Certification --> Scheduleds --> Create a filter and schedule. This will create certification instance record (cert_instance) and it will contains the certification tasks (cert_task).
For CMDB Data Management Certification Policy
Navigate to CMDB workspace --> Data Manager --> Policy and create the policy. this will create a Policy execution instance record (cmdb_data_management_policy_execution) and this will contains the CMDB task (cmdb_data_management_task).
Working behaviour of both the methods are same but they are dealing with different tables.
I didn't found much differences between these two in the product documentation. Can anyone help me to understand the differences between these two. Thanks in advance!
Best Regards,
Ganesh

Hi @Ganeshm1 ,
I can understand these terms are linked and that's what makes it confusing.
You Create a CMDB Data Manager policy to automatically process CIs life cycle events such as deletion. Applying consistent and standard life cycle policies to CIs helps maintain the health of the CMDB.

Data Manager includes a utility that will convert existing Data Certification schedules into Data Manager Certification policies. Existing Data Certification tasks are not converted.
Data Manager uses a common task table (CMDBTASKS) for all of the policy types. Data Manager tasks are separated by policy type in the My Work module in CMDB Workspace so it's easy to see Certification tasks, Attestation tasks and the tasks associated with CI lifecycle operations.

Good day @Ganeshm1 , CMDB Data Management Certification Policy is not that great to use. Thats the major difference, no vaildation, allows users to certify empty fields, lack of tables to create a dashboard etc
