Discovery - deduplicate Software CIs based on version

Hi all ! 

 

My customer has Discovery which runs on his instance, and raised me a ticket on duplicated Software CIs.

After investigation, they are not really duplicated CIs, but the same software with different versions.

 

You can see an example with 7-zip in attached picture.

 

My question is the following : my customer would want to have all CIs of a given software (whatever the version) in a single CI.

For example, all 7zip CIs should be an unique CI : 7-zip (or maybe based on major version).

 

How could we achieve this ? On my understand, I may use identification rules, but I don't know how to implement this...

Am I able to use normalization, without any additional subscription ? I mean : I've understood that SAM Pro enables to normalize automatically, but is there a subscriptionless method for doing this ?

For information, I've found manual normalization through SAM Foundation.

It's not automatic, like in SAP Pro, but my customer doesn't have any license 🙂

 

But the full process of normalization, till the CI, selectable in an incident, is not totally clear for me.

 

I will create an other thread, for this specific subject.
