Dear ServiceNow CMDB Community.
Has anyone tried to use the Personal Developer Instance to discover the configuration items (CIs) on their local home network?

Hello,
Yes it can be done. Just consider your local network as a customer network.
You need to install a MID Server and give it access to your local network.
Also make sure it can connect to internet.
Here are some docs for the MID Server : MID Server
If you are not familiar with Discovery, check out the NowLearning courses.
Regards,

Yes, I have tried this as part of my personal learning of ITOM . I installed the MID Server on my Windows laptop, created a new user, granted it administrative rights and used those credentials in my PDI for Discovery process. The MID Server validated/ ran successfully and I was able to run discovery to understand how the process works and how CIs are identified and mapped in cmdb tables
Thanks and Regards,
