In my experience credential based discovery can be tricky if you do not have all the correct permissions and firewall access in place. Seeing as non discovered servers probably represent a security threat (what patch levels are they on etc ?!) it would make sense to enforce a policy where servers that are not in the CMDB are are not discoverable are not allowed access to Network resources.
So my question is - does anyone know if there is a way to enforce a policy where servers (and maybe other end devices ) need to check that they exist in the CMDB before being able to fully boot up and allow users to access their resources ?
