Hi Team,
I am looking for the best approach for updating the Operational and Installed status during horizontal discovery. As far as I know, during horizontal discovery (IP-based), it does not pull these two statuses. Then how does it get updated?
Do we need to write any script to update manually if the servers are not discovered for a particular time?
Thanks

Hi @balaji_prusty1,
Install Status is already declared deprecated with CSDM v5 and should not be used anymore. The CSDM Life Cycle is the new way of working.
The CSDM 5 white paper explains the concept behind the new concept.
For Operational Status it depends on the CI class e.g. a computer will become operational once you assign it to a person and you need to provide service for it. Data center CIs might become operational as part of a project related change and so on.
Hope this helps!

Hi Fknell,
Thanks for the quick response. As per my understanding, CSDM is the framework to map the business service and their dependent service.
How will it correlate if any server/VM is operational/retired/terminate?
Thanks

CSDM also defines the life cycle of foundation data, like assets and CIs as part of an end-to-end process. Hence depending on the life cycle stage only corresponding status values make sense, like it was with hardware status and substatus before.
Your server/VM will be part of a service instance and it will be relevant in ITIL processes (change, problem, etc.) or risk mgmt.
On SNU you find a comprehensive class on CSDM Fundamentals, that will introduce you to version 5 and highlight what needs to be done as part of a transition from previous versions.
