Has anyone integrated Puppet with ServiceNow without an ITOM license (no Discovery / Service Graph)?
Goal:
Puppet is the source of truth, and ServiceNow consumes a limited dataset (e.g., nodes, OS, environment, selected facts)—not full CMDB ingestion.
Questions:
- Have you implemented this without ITOM?
- What worked better:
- Push (Puppet → ServiceNow via REST), or
- Pull (ServiceNow calling Puppet APIs)?
- Which data source did you use?
- Puppet Enterprise REST API
- PuppetDB
- Custom export/intermediate solution
- Any lessons learned around auth, performance, or maintainability?
I’m leaning toward a push model from Puppet to ServiceNow via REST, but I’d appreciate real‑world experiences before deciding.
