In the cmdb_ci_hardware table, the internet_facing field is available out‑of‑box (OOB) and defaults to true.
I have seen community discussions mention using the CSDM data classification on Business Applications or Services to derive whether something is internet‑facing—for example:
- If a Business Application or Service has Data Classification = Public, then downstream or upstream CIs may inherit an internet-facing = true flag.
However, this type of classification logic only applies when the CI is part of a CSDM‑aligned service model (Application Service → Application → Server → Components).
But I need to know how this can be set on the CIs that are discovered by SolarWinds integration.
