We are migrating to CSDM 4.0 and as part of this, we are converting Business Services to Application Service and technical service. I see there are two option to covert. One is changing the CI 'class' directly from the list view and the second one is 'Convert to Application Service' and 'Convert to Technical Service' option which is recommended by servicenow.
What would be the impact of changing the CI 'class' directly from the list view, instead of using the 'Convert to Application Service' or 'Convert to Technical Service' options for business service conversion?
Note: Relationship, incident, change, tasks, etc., are not impacted in both the cases.

I'm not 100% sure if there's any impact when converting from the list view, but to validate, you can try converting one service via list view and another via a UI action, then compare the results.

@Dr Atul G- LNG Thanks for your response. I have tried this and I didn't notice any difference or impact. I'm looking for someone who can confirm if there is any impact in any other ways.

If you didn't notice any difference, then any method should work fine. I don't have real-time experience with it, so I can't say which is the best approach

For 'Convert to Technical Service' action, my experience is that this is setting the Class name and the Service Classification fields - so a list view edit may be fine as an alternative.
For 'Convert to Application Service' action, there are some other fields that are being set beyond the Class & Service Classification - I would have to double check my notes, but fields like the Service Populator, Levels, and a couple of others are set. If you want to do a bulk update instead of clicking this button you would want to script updates for these other fields to ensure proper functionality.
