Service Mapping without ITOM Discovery?

Is it possible to use Service Mapping, but without using ITOM as discovery tool - instead use other discovery tools?

Some tools like ScienceLogic claims that they can build Service Map without ServiceNow discovery. But I'm not sure how accurate the map is and do they have any other challenges.

ITOM Visibility is needed if you need to do : Top Down, Tag based or Traffic/ML based service mapping. If you do not have ITOM Visibility you only have Manual and Dynamic Services  available.

 

If you already own ITOM Visibility you can use other sources for the Tag-based Mapping, provided the other Discovery sources do Cloud discovery/VM Discovery and link it to the Hosts and App.  The ML mapping might support other sources in the future, provided the Port and Process list is provided with your alternative Discovery too.
