SolarWinds Service Graph Connector not pulling in VOIP Phones or Printers

I've installed and configured the SolarWinds SGC and am currently ingesting data daily into our instance.

One thing I've noticed is that I'm not pulling in any of our VOIP Phones or Printers that we have on the network.

I've reviewed the import sets and it doesn't look like the data is there, unless I'm looking at the wrong import sets - assumed these would both fall into Hardware.

I guess I have a couple questions:

1. Are these assets which the SolarWinds SGC should/can ingest into ServiceNow?

2. Am I looking at the wrong import sets or wrong table in ServiceNow?

3. Is this something that needs further configuring within SolarWinds?

Hello @MBarrott

1- > Yes, SolarWinds SGC can ingest data for VOIP Phones and Printers into ServiceNow. However, you need to ensure that these devices are properly discovered and monitored within SolarWinds first. For VOIP Phones, you might need to configure the VoIP and Network Quality Manager (VNQM) to monitor these devices. For Printers, ensure they are being monitored by SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM) or another relevant module.

Add Avaya Call Manager devices to SolarWinds VNQM

2-> It's possible. VOIP Phones and Printers might not fall under the general "Hardware" category in your import sets. You should check the specific import sets and tables related to network devices and peripherals. For example, VOIP Phones might be under a specific table related to telecommunication devices, and Printers might be under a table for peripheral devices.

3-> Yes, further configuration might be necessary. Ensure that your SolarWinds instance is correctly set up to discover and monitor VOIP Phones and Printers. For VOIP Phones, you may need to add and configure call manager devices (like Cisco or Avaya) in the VNQM settings. For Printers, ensure they are included in the network discovery settings and are being polled correctly by SolarWinds NPM.

You can try to consult with Solarwinds support they might also be able to help you more.

HI @Viraj Hudlikar

I'm thinking it might be an issue on the discovery side of SolarWinds, I've checked import sets for both Hardware and Network Adapters but not finding anything. I even queried for specific MAC and/or IP's that is tied to VOIP phones and nothing came up.

Speaking to our Network team and I believe they have VNQM and NPM setup in SolarWinds so it's certainly confusing.

Hello @MBarrott

In this case better you consult with Solarwinds support or ServiceNow support which will help you with this more if data is coming in importsets even after quiring specific MAC or IP's.

Hi @Viraj Hudlikar

I've opened a ticket with SNOW Support to at least rule out anything on my end. Gut feeling is that we need further adjustments on the SolarWinds side but I will update this thread once I have a concrete conclusion.
