Visualize groups of CI’s

Hi,

I would like to show a group of top node CI’s, such as services, in a unified map. The use case is mostly related to projects etc where we want to easily visualize how all included items relate and is built up.

We only have ITSM std. capabilities available.

One way would be to create a custom CI class to use as a temporary container using relationships. But I would hope there are other methods available.

Would be nice if DPM application supported the visualization aspect but I do not thing it does if I’m not missing anything.

Any ideas for how we best would achieve this?

Consider building relationships from servers and key hardware CIs to application services.

What we want is to take a group of service and plot this (top down) in a relationship map to see the full landscape. The relationships you mention is already in place for many of the respective services.

Hi  ,

How about consider the use of service mapping module.. Where you can manually map these services in Top- Down Manner.

SIVASANKARI, we have found ServiceMapping takes a huge investment of resources to do. We had hoped the Machine Learning function would help, but it does not. Getting entry points, information and review of generated maps  from/by our Application owners has proved problematic.
Hence, we created a catalog item that allows users to choose CIs to add as "related items" to their Application Services - this creates "runs on:runs: relationships which we can then leverage as "Impacted CIs and Services" in Change and Incident Management.
