What is 'Database Servers' Application used for?

What is 'Database Servers' Application used for?

My understanding is its meant to store the Database running on the DB instance.

DB server means the physical host or VM where the DB instance runs. 

Why the name 'Servers' in 'Database Servers'? Am I missing anything?

Even I guess so Steve, but unfortunately such details are not documented by ServiceNow. Even if you use SErviceNow Discovery, it will not populate any data ther.
