Building a CSDM

Hi, I have to build a CSDM focusing on Servers (Physical and Virtual) we could use this model for the business services of Insurance and Marketing. I need to know from where should i start as i am new in CSDM what question do i need to ask from the client in order to get started or what step should i follow.?
