CSDM Implementation steps

Hi All,

we have CMDB in place along with discovery set up. now there is requirement to implement CSDM . Not worked on CSDM before . Is there any plugin or subscription required for it ?. Also wanted to understand from where this implementation steps needs to started.

any good document or video would be helpful. Thanks

The CSDM framework gives you an idea, how you can start. Nevertheless the ServiceNow approach is most useful, when you start a Greenfield project. In this case you can follow the different steps of:

  1. Foundation
  2. Crawl
  3. Walk
  4. Run
  5. Fly

For existing customers this can be difficult, because of that ServiceNow created a CSDM foundation dashboard, that is analyzing your data based on best practice. So I would suggest, beside looking into the community and YouTube channel from ServiceNow and read/watch the overview articles and video, to download the CSDM foundation dashboard. Based on that I would suggest you to define your next step. We often realize, that an external view can be helpful, because often it is difficult to see the added value of CSDM from inside the company. So my suggestion would be also, that you try to contact your implementation partner or account manager to have a discussion, how you can go forward.
