CSDM Life cycle mapping activation

Is life cycle mapping activation work in global??
On shared instance if i activate Life cycle mapping it will affect all customers data or we can use it for a specific customer.

Good day Rohit, 

it is an instance activation, when activated it acts on all objects that include the life cycle attributes.

ok...so is this mandatory to activate lifecycle mapping if we want to upgrade to CSDM 4.0 or we can upgrade without activation and use old life cycle attribute?

hi Rohit, 
it is not enforced/mandatory for now. 
I would recommend for green field situations to enable it. 
For brown field you need to assess what impact that might have. Think about:
reference qualifiers in processes
reports
...
