Service instances introduced with CMDB CI Class Model v1.64.0 - November 2024

Hi all

As per the release notes the following CI Classes were introduced in the November update and are all extended from Application Service (cmdb_ci_service_auto):

  • Data Service Instance (cmdb_ci_data_service_instance)
  • Network Service Instance (cmdb_ci_network_service_instance)
  • Connection Service Instance (cmdb_ci_connection_service_instance)
  • Operational Process Instance (cmdb_ci_operational_process_service_instance)
  • Facility Service Instance (cmdb_ci_facility_service_instance)

I haven't yet checked Xanadu Patch 3, but are they to be used as Application Services now or at some point?

Many thanks,

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

In the latest CSDM 5 drawing I have seen. The "Application Service" is renamed as "Service Instance". So they are most likely preparing the release of CSDM 5, which would be exciting. We probably won't get any specific answers until there is an official release of CSDM 5.

If you haven't joined already, I suggest joining CMDB - Data Foundations confidential product roadmap for the latest on CMDB and CSDM.

Best regards,

Casper

Thanks Casper - that's my suspicion as well, but wanted to see if anyone can/is ready to provide more information 😉. We will potentially start using the tables already for a specific use case, so it would be good to understand what's planned.

Indeed, it would be nice to know more. I just installed the newest version in my dev instance and the Service Instances are extended from Application Service, so I am pretty sure we are right in our assumptions, about where things are headed 😁
