Which asset table does the barcode scanner belong to

I have barcode scanners, that needs to go into the asset and CI tables. Is there a specific table where barcode scanners would best-fit as an asset? (and in CMDB)

We use alm_hardware table. There also is a class - cmdb_ci_scanner, but we don't use that.
