Happy new year everyone! Good news, we are going to be improving the documentation coverage for CSDM this year, coinciding with our release of CSDM V5.

To help our documentation team prioritize what our customers and partners need, we put together this short survey that our technical writers will use to tackle this effort. Please take a few minutes to fill this out, it will immensely help our in our documentation improvement efforts for CSDM!

To inspire others to expand on my simple desires (some are kind of already implemented in some of the documentation):

1. If you could improve one thing about the CSDM documentation, what would it be?

Links from each Domain / Class to further detailed documentation. The Model to become interactive to the documentation. For Example you click on the Design Domain or the Business App and it takes you to the appropriate details within the EA Documentation... Same with Consume for DPM / Service Portfolio Documentation. From there you can see the value of adhering to the Model with real world examples. (adhering to the model gives you this added value within ITSM with a list of such things like utilizing refresh impacted services)

2. What would you like to see the CSDM documentation include?

More examples by major industry as well as what was in survey question 1. Also, Examples of expected value to include common KPI improvements that most industries are striving for. (MTTR, Availability, Business Impact Awareness, Portfolio Performance etc.).

With CSDM at the Center show how each Product interacts as well as from Each Product feeding into CSDM. So the view should be both ways. CSDM is at the center of more and more products on the platform similar to CMDB, so having both views aids in collaboration both ways as well. CSDM/CMDB teams are often reaching out to the Product owners to help them see how they can take advantage of a data model which is useful and conversely from Product to CSDM will be helpful for those product owners to demand collab from CSDM initiatives.

3. How can we improve the information and instructions on implementing life cycle management?

Data flow diagrams, showing cradle to grave lifecycles as Business Applications are designed to Operational to Obsolescence across the Model.
