We now have a new resource for our CSDM community in a new YouTube playlist for Data Foundations here. We will regularly post new videos to cover topics that include CSDM, CMDB and Service Graph as an extension of this community forum. Our goal is to get one new video published per week.
I suggest that you bookmark the link above, and subscribe to our community YouTube community and PlayList to be informed when new content is posted. Our newest videos are at the end of the playlist.
Take a look at the videos we have posted so far. You can comment on the videos, or provide feedback here to let us know on other topics you would like to see.
Here is a short summary of the topics we will aim to cover:
- Feature discussions - We will drill into specific topic and explain the background, rational, and plans to change areas that may not be clearly understood or may take a while to see the end-state. Topics may include things like life cycles, product orientation, ownership roles, and what to consider when extending the CMDB.
- Examples - As new examples are established, we will post short explanations and walk-throughs to show how to apply CSDM.
- Feature Demos - We will provide short video vignettes on specific CSDB product features, such as IRE, Multi-sourcing, CMDB Query Builder and Data Foundations Dashboards for example.
- Use Cases - These videos will explain use case topics that span multiple products and domains in CSDM. Topics would include Cloud app creation, API / integration lifecycles management, and value streams such as Idea to Product.
- Framework Mappings - We often see the need to understand how CSDM maps to existing frameworks that exist in the market today. We cover how these frameworks map at a high level, and provide advice on how to apply these frameworks in CSDM. Common frameworks such as TBM Council, TM forum, BIAN, APQC, IT4IT and TOGAF and more are covered.
- Product Views - Almost every product on our platform contributes to, or uses shared data on our platform. Product Views cover how each product contributes to, and uses CSDM Data. We also provide insight on how a products proprietary data ties into the CSDM model, and a summary of the types of use cases shared data enables. Existing Product views are already documented in our Now Learning CSDM Fundamentals course, and Documentation site.
Thanks for the support and interest in CSDM. Look forward to hearing your feedback and reaction to the new videos we have put together, and would like to hear about additional topics you would like us to cover.

In my opinion, CDM simplifies the process of providing common data for business and analytical applications. In other words, if the data is in the model, it can be used in many applications. I also want to create a course on this topic with the help of the Movavi screen recorder https://www.movavi.com/screen-recorder/ because I plan to simultaneously show a presentation and applications where it can be used, and, when you use Movavi, it is convenient to select windows you want to record. I plan to post the course videos on YouTube. I want it to be structured as a tree of business applications, one for warehouse, another for manufacturing, yet another for sales, etc.
