Converting a ServiceNow (SN) article to a Word document is helpful because it allows our subject matter experts to assist with editing the content.
When I try to copy the entire SN article by selecting all and pasting it into Word, the images do not transfer. Instead, blank spaces appear where the images should be. I have tried this in both Published mode (https:) and Edit mode, but the issue continues. (See Image 1)
In Published mode, I also tried highlighting the article and using right-click to select either "Copy" or "Copy Image." This method successfully copies the images, but the text is not included. (See Image 2)
Any suggestions would be so helpful. Thank you~

Hi @Sheri Mellville ,
ServiceNow rich text editor doesn't fully support copy pasting of images into Word documents due to how images are embedded and referenced. Below workarounds you can follow:
1. Use the Printer Friendly View
One effective workaround is to click the gear icon in the article, select Printer Friendly Version, then copy from that view or save it as a PDF. This approach retains images in a more stable format.
2. Use Screenshots Instead of Direct Copying
You can capture images using a screenshot tool (like Snipping Tool, SnagIt, or built-in tools) and paste them directly into Word. Alternatively, share the article's permalink to allow SME collaboration directly in ServiceNow.
3. Copy Paste via Word: especially helpful for complex or formatted articles...
Copy content in sections from Word.
When prompted, choose Remove Formatting to avoid import issues.
Insert blank lines using Shift + Enter.
Paste screenshots of images (using a screenshot tool) into those placeholders.
If you found my response helpful, please mark it as ‘Accept as Solution’ and ‘Helpful’. This helps other community members find the right answer more easily and supports the community.

Thank you for the response. Several of our knowledge articles have up to 20 instructional images, with directions and links. When I select all from Word to SN it all moves over to SN. It appears this is not an option to reverse the steps.
It is not ideal to use snipping tools on such large articles that get edited annually and need to be back in Word format for editing from others that do not have access in SN for editing.
I looked for the gear (print view option) in the knowledge article, it is not showing in publish or edit mode, assuming it is at the top grey area where you can save and publish. Can you explain where this is? Thank you
