Why not use whatever is given by OOTB by ServiceNow?
You can train or inform the user that this is the OOTB feature.

Sorry it's showing up in CSM portal and not in CSP?
Did you see if "sn_csp_portal" plugin is enabled?

Hello nunavathv,
This requires an additional plugin to be installed "com.sn_external_user_register", Upon installation of this plugin, you will be able to see the Register Button beside Knowledge button in /csp Portal. Mark my answer correct if this resolves your issue.
