Technically a user is a record of the table sys_user and contact is a record of a customer_contact table . Due to conditions and constraints along the platform, you should assign the class accordin to their functions eg. if you want to assign to a specific person it can or can't be visible on your list depending of the class. (this happened before, between incident and case).

Best practises say all technician should be a user class and all customers should be customer.

Hi ,

sys_user(User), User is a part of the organization, in one organization is handling so many projects so those employee are working on that project hey will register as a user of that organization. but Customer is different from the user .

customer are using the our build services, they are not part of the organization.

That is a main difference and it will impacting on the org.

Please don't think both are the same.

Customer need when we are giving external services.

user is a internal resources for the organization/projects.

Please mark as correct and also helpful if it is helping to you .

Thanks

Hi there,

Here is the simple way,

Step 1: Go to users list

step 2: Personalize list [edit gear icon] and add 'Class' field to the list and save

step 3: Edit Class value from 'User' to 'Contact' [as shown below]

find_real_file.png

step 4: It is converted as contact, now you can navigate to contacts and find this contact in the list.

NOTE: 1. We can also change a 'Contact' as 'User' by following the above steps.

2. A contact will store in Contact table and User table as well, since it is extended from User table.
