Users using Customer Workspace not able to click link directly to incident

We want specific users to be redirected to a specific record in the CSM workspace if they click on a link from an external source (email, link copy-paste etc).  Also, when they log in, we want them directed to the CSM Workspace landing page.  How is this accomplished? We are able to redirect them to a portal view and keep the functionality of linking directly to an incident, but are not able to do this with the workspace. When they click the link (say from an email), it takes them to the landing page and not the actual incident in the workspace.
