It’s Friday the 13th, folks, but there’s no need to freak out: you can only get lucky with Hacktoberfest this year!
🌳 Did you know that within the first 2 weeks, the amazing ServiceNow Developer community directly contributed to the planting of 88 trees in Tanzania? That is over 600 kilograms of CO2 absorbed every year from now on, simply by contributing to the Open Source community with ServiceNow. How cool is that?
The best part? There is still time for you to join in on the fun! Simply follow the steps outlined in our earlier blog post and submit your contribution before October 31st. All skill levels are welcome!
The reward kit for completing Hacktoberfest 2023 may be digital this year (except for the tree), but worry not, the Developer Program won’t leave you without swag: remember to also register for that.
Some of my personal highlights as a first time maintainer this year:
- Incredible enthusiasm and zest on the first weekend 🤯
- Seeing many new contributors, returning old-timers and even some dinosaurs defrosting for the event 🦕
- As always, some really smart and creative use cases, as well as further improvement of the overall quality of our repositories
Top contributors so far
Additional fun stats (as of today)
- 457 forks across all repositories
- 324 pull requests/contributions. Half of those are to code-snippets alone. SlackerBot and Plants are popular this year too!
- 238 participants so far, with 97 unique contributors.
- 1,383 Files across 609 Folders in just the code-snippets repository!
- 63 Parsers in the SlackerBot repository!
Remember to join the #hacktoberfest channel on SNDevs to get support - or offer support to others!
