Playbook Localization in Yokohama: Scaling Workflows Across Languages

As organizations expand globally, seamless multilingual workflows are critical. With the Yokohama release, ServiceNow introduces Playbook Localization, a powerful feature that allows developers to translate playbooks dynamically at runtimeβ€”eliminating the need for multiple versions of the same playbook.

Why Playbook Localization Matters

Before this update, teams had to duplicate playbooks in different languages, creating inefficiencies and inconsistencies. With Playbook Localization, a single playbook can support multiple languages, making it easier to manage, deploy, and scale global workflows.

How to Enable Playbook Localization

  1. Ensure your instance is on version 27.1 or later
  2. Enable required system properties in the System Properties table
  3. Install necessary translation plugins (e.g., Spanish, French, etc.)
  4. Create and activate a playbook
  5. Translate UI elements in the Process Definition Table

Key Features & Benefits

βœ… One Playbook, Multiple Languages – No need to create separate versions.
βœ… Dynamic UI Translations – Uses the Get Message API for real-time localization.
βœ… Support for Various Languages – Based on installed language plugins.
βœ… Improved User Experience – Users see content in their preferred language automatically.
