Hey y’all! 🤠 We’re back and better than ever with another #BuildWith Challenge - this time focused on Robotic Process Automation (RPA)! Harness the power of bots to automate repetitive tasks, boost efficiency, and unlock human creativity. Excited? Intrigued??? Well, then join us in this year's #BuildWithRPA Challenge and experience the future of automation firsthand.

In case you need a refresher on last year’s challenge, #BuildWithAES Challenge saw impressive participation from you, our Community. 171 participants created 335 pieces of content on App Engine Studio that garnered over 29,000 views, shares, and reactions. 🤯 A round of applause and kudos to all of you who participated! 👏🏻 Moving forward, we will be hosting a #BuildWith challenge each fall to spark innovation and showcase features and capabilities across the Now Platform.

So, What Exactly Does RPA Do?

Consider the ServiceNow Robotic Process Automation Hub (RPA Hub) as the central processing unit of a well-oiled machine. This hub commands a collection of high-tech robots that diligently execute manual digital processes at scale. These robots are best suited for automating UI-based tasks such as extracting data from spreadsheets or updating user information in a legacy HR system. Beforehand, legacy systems without APIs were unreachable to the web-based ServiceNow platform; with RPA that is no longer the case! RPA Hub also acts as a supervisor, keeping a close eye on both your attended and unattended robots to ensure they’re functioning properly.

Without further ado, let's kick this challenge off by taking a look at some of the ways RPA has benefitted our Community.  ⬇️

But don’t take their word for it. We've designed this challenge to give you a hands-on experience with RPA and help you discover all the advantages it can offer.

What’s in It for You?

By participating, you will earn a #BuildWithRPA Community badge and even get your hands on a 2023 CreatorCon t-shirt. If you missed out on snagging this exclusive tee at Knowledge, or haven't yet claimed your CreatorCon t-shirt, seize this chance to make it yours!

Hi Everyone!
I have recently completed the lab to participate in #buildwithrpa challenge by ServiceNow and I propose the following application: 📢 📢

Idea1: Corporate Idea 👨‍💼 🚀
RPA bots can access the company's knowledge base to retrieve relevant articles and solutions related to the issue described in the ticket. This information can be provided to support agents for faster issue resolution.
Idea2: 👨‍💼 🚀
Create self-service bots that can perform common troubleshooting tasks, such as password resets or software updates, without human intervention. Users can interact with these bots through a chat interface in the ServiceNow portal.

Idea1: Crazy Idea 🤖 🤖 🚀
Implement bots that send prank notifications to colleagues' mobile devices, such as humorous reminders or fake meeting invitations.

Idea2: 🤖 🤖 🚀
Maintain a history of executed pranks and their recipients. Use RPA to ensure that no one is targeted too frequently or unfairly.

Let's build together see where RPA can take us!

The recent expansion of ServiceNow to include Robotic Process Automation (RPA) capabilities is an interesting development that underscores the platform's adaptability to accommodate new use cases essential for driving true digital transformation. For organisations that have already initiated their RPA journey, the integration with ServiceNow not only provides a streamlined approach to automation but also offers customers the choice in how they wish to implement or begin their RPA initiatives on the platform. This flexibility is particularly valuable for companies looking to transition from legacy or manual processes to more advanced, digitally mature operations, thereby offering a pragmatic pathway for improving operational efficiency.

- Corporate Use Case: Over the last year, my experience in connected operations, fleet, and telematics has shown that data in these areas often remains siloed within organisations. The integration of RPA capabilities in ServiceNow can drive greater efficiency of assets by normalising disparate and unconnected sources of data. This opens up new avenues for asset optimisation and operational excellence.

Crazy Use Case: On a personal level, I see the potential for using ServiceNow's RPA capabilities to scrape multiple data sources—such as my energy supplier, vehicle/fleet apps, travel websites and personal spreadsheets—to build a comprehensive view of my own ecological impact.

#BuildWithRPA Thanks ServiceNow team and @laurenmcman for this challenge...!! I was really great and fun to explore new capabilities and build my First robot....!!!
Here are my ideas on where we can go with RPA

Corporate Idea

:
Using RPA in Productivity Reporting and Supporting Timesheet fulfilment by Employees. RPA can help us fill data from various meetings and time spend on assignments worked based on Titles/Subjects of meetings & agenda in Outlook calenders. This can generate simple reports and helps employee to fill timesheets and time reporting thus reducing time to fill such systems and improve overall experience with them. These reports help in accurate resource reportings and help improve financial health of project and client confidence.

Crazy Idea

Make a digital health co-pilot installed systems which can always encourage better interactions with systems and too much screen time spent on application. From time to time it can suggest health pauses (e.g. using pomodoro technique) and in gamified messages ask to do some sitting exercises , hand movements , neck rotations. It can provide some motivations thoughts and links to web pages to improve working environment and make it pleasant to feel happy with the work done.

Hi @laurenmcmanamon ,

#BuildWithRPA  Thanks for this challenge...!! I just built my First robot....!!!

Personally I'm big fan of Automation & I've recently completed the lab to participate in #BuildWithRPA where I built my first bot.

Read on to hear my ideas on where we can go with RPA

Corporate Idea

 :

Imagine RPA bots Utilized for Vending machine in IT sector.

E.g., Whenever we want something like mouse or monitor or headset we generally raise request and it will be fulfilled manually by technician/fulfiller.
Instead we can put all these IT equipment in Vending machine and end user will just raise request and RPA bot can fulfill it & we will get equipment instantly.

Many more to go #BuildWithRPA

Crazy Idea

:

What if we use RPA @Traffic signals so that it can scan number plates form vehicles and
to make e-challans/penalty to those who are not following rules & regulations and send challan
to owners of the vehicles.

Below is screenshot of my completed lab....!!

I am excited to announce that I have successfully completed the #BuildWithRPA challenge. It was an informative journey into the world of Robotic Process Automation.

Corporate Idea:  RPA bots can be used for making Sales Strategy and Long-Term Planning by forecasting and\, labor planning, resource allocation and channel strategy are all things that need to be considered.

Crazy idea: Giving refunds can be an exhaustive process. Sometimes the complaint gets missed in the sheer volume of data, which can cause delay and further lead to customer dissatisfaction. RPA can help in collecting information from disparate systems and store it in a centralized hub. This will help in streamlining the process and validating and processing the refund at a faster pace.

Hello Everyone,

I Completed #BuildWithRPA challenge during the ServiceNow Pune Developer Q3 Meetup. and below was my post sharing our experience.

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/anil-lande-12538431_buildwithrpa-servicenowdeveloper-servicenowcommun...

Here are my two ideas where we can use RPA.

1. Corporate Idea:

We can use RPA in healthcare can be leveraged into multiple healthcare processes that are repetitive and take highly manual efforts. RPA can be used for data entry and integration processes to decision-making processes.

2. Crazy Idea:

We are using RPA to collect data of our ServiceNow community contributors from their community profile like No of Posts, Correct Solutions given and Kudos received and storing it in the Excel sheet on weekly basis.

It is helping us to recognize our contributors based on their weekly contributions.

Also I completed the LAB on now-learning to learn more about RPA.

#BuildWithRPA Thanks ServiceNow for this challenge...!! I just built my First robot....!!!
Here are my ideas on where we can go with RPA

Corporate Idea
There is a large volume of data that telecom service providers deal with pertaining to customers, sales personnel, network providers and engineers. Although this data is stored in the electronic format, physical copies are also maintained. All of this information must be shared well between the various departments which are spread across multiple locations. Improper flow of information can hamper the ability of telecom service providers to create a positive experience for their customers. Delivery of service can get delayed and tracking the business activities may get difficult.

Crazy Idea
Telecom service providers apply IT to the back office to speed up work. But these back office personnel have to work on various applications, systems, platforms and databases. These platforms work simultaneously and need proper coordination which is not always possible. Human intervention is required to solve the problems which can interfere with the work schedules of personnel who are responsible for customer interactions. Such deviations from work routines hinder the creation of positive customer experience.
