What’s Creator Studio?

Creator Studio is a no-code tool that lets you whip up apps fast, no waiting on IT. It’s perfect for those simple, request-based workflows that need to get done without the hassle. The best part? It’s easy to use and comes with built-in governance, so your apps stay compliant and good to go, without any extra effort on your end.

Already using App Engine Studio? No problem. Creator Studio plays nice with it, letting you knock out the simpler apps quickly while saving AES for the bigger, more complex projects. It’s all about giving you more control and flexibility in how you build. (Quick shoutout to our #BuildWithAES participants! Cheers to more skill-building!)

Whether you’re looking to speed things up, clear out bottlenecks, or just try something new, Creator Studio’s got you covered. Ready to show off what you can build? Keep reading to learn how to dive into the #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge, earn some swag, and show us what you’ve got.

What’s in It for You (Besides Fun)?

Your contributions help drive thought leadership and showcase real-world use cases that other organizations can learn from. That being said, the Community team is also a big believer in a little quid pro quo. Participants will earn a #BuildWithCreatorStudio Community badge and an exclusive mug! Did I mention it's in the new design style we debuted at CreatorCon during K24? Participants will earn exclusive swag! (while supplies last)Participants will earn exclusive swag! Excited to share I completed the #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge.

I’m excited to introduce the Employee Recognition Nomination Form I built using Creator Studio! This tool makes it super easy to recognize your colleagues for their exceptional contributions and promotes a positive workplace culture. The entire process is fully automated, from submitting the nomination to tracking approvals in real-time, with notifications along the way.

Here’s how it works:
Nominator's Name: The form automatically fills in your name, streamlining the start of the nomination process.

Nominee's Name: Simply search and select the colleague you want to nominate from a dropdown list.

Award Category: Pick from categories like Best Collaborator, Problem Solver, or Innovator, depending on the achievement.

Reason for Nomination: Explain why you're nominating them with specific examples. Highlight how they went above and beyond!

Supporting Evidence: You can optionally attach documents or links to showcase their work, helping reviewers understand the nominee’s impact.

Submit Nomination: Once complete, just hit submit! The nomination moves forward for review, and your colleague will be on track for recognition.
By using this form, you contribute to a culture where hard work and great achievements are celebrated. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the efforts that make our team better and stronger!

Very excited to share my another #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge!!

I developed a Course Registration Application with the help of Creator Studio. Thanks to this low-code interface, I was able to create the application quickly and efficiently. The application allows employees to register for courses through a catalog item, and it includes a playbook that guides agents through the process with step-by-step instructions. The request is assigned to the course administrator for approval, and once the registration is approved, an email notification is automatically sent to the employee.

Key Features of Creator Studio Used:

  • User-Friendly Interface: The simple, intuitive interface allowed me to design the course registration form and workflows with minimal coding.
  • Guided Automation: Automated routing for course registration approvals, including assignment to course managers and automatic notifications.

  • "The images I have Attached below   for the Course Registration Application showcase various features of the system, including the registration form, approval workflow, and automated notifications."

It was about time for me to get the hashtag#BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge done and I did!

I used the Creator studio in ServiceNow to build this app which I named 'Invoicely' that allows freelancers to submit invoices for processing their payment. I have seen from experience that usually this is sometimes handled through emails to individuals and subject to delay and discrepancies.

The process is simple, where the user submits an invoice, a task is generated and assigned to the project manager. Then the project manager validates the invoice and approves or rejects the request. Upon approval or rejection the invoice payment is processed further.

I used the default AES template for building the form and used playbook to build the decision logic for approval and notifications. This can further be developed to incorporate subsequent tasks for finance functions.

I am amazed at how the creator studio encourages citizen developers to take up simplifying their business processes by leveraging the templates, playbooks and other automation capabilities.

Few of the benefits of using the creator studio capabilities:
Its drag-and-drop interface allows one to quickly design the form and automate the workflow—all without writing a single line of code! The result is a fully functional app that streamlines communication, simplifies the approval process, and ensures seamless meeting setup.

For people who are new to ServiceNow and wondering "What is Creator Studio?"
ServiceNow's Creator Studio is a game-changer, offering a user-friendly, guided environment to build request-based applications. By breaking down traditional barriers, it empowers business process experts to transform their automation ideas into tangible solutions without extensive coding knowledge.

While not intended to replace existing development tools like App Engine Studio, Creator Studio complements them by providing a fresh entry point for app creation.
This innovative approach represents a paradigm shift in how we perceive application development on the ServiceNow platform, opening it up to a broader audience and enabling more users to contribute their process expertise into real life applications.
When a user logs into the Creator Studio application, depending on which level of access they have (Full, or limited), they'll be presented with a view of all the applications they're entitled to, and may request access to those they do not.
If they've got full Creator Studio access, they'll be able to create a new application by clicking the "Create Application" button on the top left.

Hi @laurenmcman ,

I’m excited to share my participation in the ServiceNow
#BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge, where I developed #InclusiveX - an app designed to help organizations track and enhance their Diversity & Inclusion goals.

ServiceNow's #CreatorStudio made the experience seamless in a user-friendly, #no_code environment. I was able to create application quickly and efficiently. Creator Studio truly transforms how we approach simple application development on ServiceNow and it’s amazing to see so many creative entries.

Last time, I didn’t get the swag, and with all the incredible entries this year, the chances are slim — but I’m still hopeful! Regardless, it’s been a fantastic experience watching the community thrive.

I have completed the #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge! One of our internal initiative is called TechTalk. Every second Wednesday a tech topic is presented by one of our team members, usually showing off a new functionality, an application or a process revamp. So far, the booking process was kind of messy - involving MS Teams discussions, e-mails and what not. Today, in just 10 mins I was able to create a TechTalk Request form without a single line of code. Going further, automation will be added and reminders will be sent over email. Further, a dashboard with the upcoming tech talks, as well as the recordings of the past ones will be available too! Knowledge is power!

Finally got around the #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge!

Had fun building an app which was around the idea of appreciating the employees who put in their hard work and also fostering a healthy collaborative environment where colleagues appreciate each other's contribution.

A dedicated rewards and recognition portal plays a vital role in any organization by creating an environment where employees feel valued and motivated. When employees are recognized for their hard work and contributions, it boosts their morale and encourages them to perform at their best. This sense of appreciation not only enhances individual productivity but also cultivates a collaborative workplace culture.

The app has below features:

  • Request form to share the details of the recognition
  • Database of rewards of different categories
  • Notification for the rewardee and possibility to share that with certain groups for wider visibility

Future enhancement:

  • Integrate the tool with chat system such as Teams, Yammer or Slack, so recognitions can be shared with the whole organisation automatically.
  • Integrate with Rewards tool, as soon as the request is raised in the system, the rewards can be shared with the rewardee automatically
