Indexing improves the performance of the database lookups. In ServiceNow, the coalesce field in a transform map is used to match a record from the source to the target.
ServiceNow can find the target record faster if the coalesce field is indeed.
Thus improving the performance of the data load operation, in turn, improving the overall platform performance.
To index the coalesce field of an existing transform map:
1. Navigate to System Import Sets > Administration > Transform Maps
2. Open the transform map
3. Click on "Index Coalesce Fields" related link.
If we are creating a new transform map, then set at least one field in the field map as a coalesce field.
Before clicking on the "Index Coalesce fields" link, make sure that you have finalized on the coalesce field(s) because if you change the coalesce field(s) after indexing then the new coalesce field will have to be indexed again.
