activity log from workspace is not showing up with my custom table

In Ui builder I have the OOTB standard record. when the table is on the task table the activity log shows. When I change it to my table (u_layout), the activity log does not show anymore. I have referenced both the task table and the sys_journal_field table but still nothing. Its has to be a linking of some type that is eluding me.  any thoughts?

If you open a record of your table in the classic ui, and click configure the form layout :

Do you have the item Activities filtered added and the respective journal fields?

Also when you look at your journals are they added in the filter activity panel ?

If you see the activity on the classic ui but not on the workspace, they it might be an issue on your ui builder variant.

Thank you for taking the time to check a few things. Your information did help. I did review the items that you did suggest. 

here are a few pics to see if I can get further.

when it's in the alm_hardware default table from a default standard record from the workspace, the activity log does show. 
 when I change the table to my custom table which is extended from the task table, the activity log does not show.

I read that the table has to be extended to the task table so it gets the right info or config.

Hello Chuck, when you checked you table in the classic ui, did it show the activities in the form there (outside of the workspace)? Can you see if you are configuring this in the default view instead of the workspace or workspace UIB view ? 

  • Open the a record in the platform classic ui (YOURTABLE.do) 
  • See if you have a workspace view, maybe you configured the default view and the workspace view still does not have the activities on it.
  • Configure the form layout and add the Activities section with comments, worknotes and Activities flittered on the view that is used in the workspace (which normally is called workspace / workspace UIB view)
