After selecting generate sequence in an order guide, getting the error Invalid Reference

I created an order guide and it processed 3 catalog items in parallel.  The sequential fulfillment plug-in was recently installed. I then took that same order guide and selected generate sequence.  I am now getting the playbook error Invalid Reference for each of the 3 catalog items.  When I click on the link to the catalog items and go to the Automation tab, there is a field labeled "Request" that contains the "Invalid reference".  What is causing the Invalid Reference error? Is Request referencing a field on the parent record?

I can't open this KB article, but I've got exactly the same problem - both in a Zurich instance and my PDI (on Australia), with all relevant plugins updated. Initially there was also a start rule issue with the first lane, but I could fix it by creating it anew. The reference issue remains, though.

Is there any way how to fix it, and is ServiceNow working on this apparent bug already?
