Is it possible to make an approval notification forwardable to another user?

Current scenario:
I have a custom table with a Requested For field. When a record on that custom table reaches a certain state, an approval is generated, The appropriate users receive a notification email. Inside that email, there are two buttons, approve and reject. Clicking on either button opens a new email body with the watermark, and sending it causes the approval record to update accordingly.

The new ask:
Instead of 1+ actual user(s) record in the Requested For field, they want a shared inbox. After the record triggers approval and email notif, the manager of that inbox wants to forward that notification to a specific person. I tried testing the above process by forwarding the notification to myself and approving it through email, but the record will not update despite receiving the inbound email.

I'm sure it would be simpler to have the end user change the value of the Requested For field instead of having a static inbox, but I was wondering how feasible it would be to go through with the above/how to go about it.
