Approval Summarizer - Service Portal

Hey All,

So we have an issue where we have a few complex requests with multiple UI Policies hiding and showing fields based on other fields, etc... all this is working great, and when the record is submitted and the ticket is worked through the normal UI, great, everything is fantastic.   Variables show appropriately, etc...   The issue we have is, when a record is being approved on the service portal, the "Options" shows ALL variables, and totally disregards the UI Policies.   Service Now says this is working as designed with what sounds like no intention to modify this any time soon, SO, we have been trying to come up with a work around for approvals on requests items where the variables hold the key information.

My thought, just add the form widget so that my "Approval Summarizer" just handles this for me as it does show my variables properly and form widgets do honor UI policies from catalog items.... however, the approval summarizer is definitely on the form, but it's not showing (for anything, change, problem, request, etc...) it basically just shows me the first section of the approval form.

Has anyone else seen this, where the summarizer isn't available for them on the SP?   Any recommendations on how to return information properly from the record being approved, specifically variables from a RITM?   At this point, I'd settle for displaying a "form" of the record being approved, and defaulting to an "approval" view and just adding the "variable editor" to that form view.

Here is the solution for approval summarizer on Portal

Portal diaries: Service Portal — Approval Summarizer in Portal

but this will not help you for RITM variables

This is pretty cool, thank you!

I just need to figure out why it's only working for change approvals (problem approvals do not display the form)

This actually MAY help for the RITM variables as well.   I have a view of "sp" defined for RITMs which ONLY has the variable editor on it, and if I can use this (removing the if excluding the req_item table) and figure out how to force the 'sp' view, it may return exactly what I am looking for.   This definitely has me moving in the right direction though.

well the above portal approval summarizer will not work for variable editor...but it should work for problem record
