We're trying to shift our ARB workflow into ServiceNow and are starting by leveraging a RITM. However, something more powerful, perhaps akin to a change or release, feels like it could be the better long-term approach.
This post describes something a bit more custom but is short on specifics and is more than five years old.
I'm not a SNOW developer but would like to point our team to an existing object/table, if one exists and makes sense to use. Otherwise, I'd appreciate hearing about what more "custom" approaches might make sense.

A better long term/scalable approach would be a custom table. This custom table will house the information rather than ritm variables, and will provide you greater flexibility.
Just make sure your contract allows for custom tables so that you are not hit with an unexpected cost from ServiceNow.

Thanks. Also looks like there's some sort of architecture review "process" included as part of APM, which I'd assume involves an associated table / data object. Maybe worth considering if we're looking at APM for other reasons?

Not sure about SAM, but APM is designed for exactly this.
