Are drilldown kind of visualization supported in platform analytics?

Hi,

I have several reports and dashboards in Classic UI. I migrated these to Platform Analytics dashboards but there are several reports and interactive filters which were not working properly in Platform Analytics , so the suggestion that came was to create the dashboards and reports from scratch on Platform Analytics directly.

I have a question that there are several reports in Classic Ui which are drill down and the same needs to be created on Platform Analytic, but how to create a drill down visualization in platform analytics and are they even supported, also we have several interactive filters on drilldown reports that works perfectly on classic Ui but were breaking on Platform Analytics, so are these filters on drilldown reports supported in Platform Analytics?

Hey, this is my different account as I was not able to upload screenshots from my computer. You can see the configurations that I did . I have created a drill down as well but the dashboard filter does not work on drill down . Is there any additional setting that I need to add in drill down configuration?

By default, when you create in-line dashboard you can use Allow Chart interaction and define what should happen when user clicks on elements or data displayed in dashboard.

For example, take below data visualization

When I click on hardware element [grouped by Assignment Group, it dynamically applies filter to the table with filter condition of clicked element and displays related list records. This is default feature of in-line PA dashboards

Logic is similar for all data visualization types and for the chart interaction actions allowed, refer documentation link I shared.

Check your data visualization for below conditions,

1. Chart interaction section - 'Allow chart interaction' is selected

2. Action is selected as 'Go to data view' as this would work for all data visualization types and is the most used interaction

Some of the common issues if data is not displayed on drill down,

1. Check and confirm the user has access to data records. Impersonate the user and check they can see data from the table. If they cannot see the data, provide required roles or create ACLs for access

2. Platform Analytics, Data Visualization and UI builder plugins could be outdated and that could cause some of the features to not work as expected. Go to System Definition -> Plugins and Sync Now and check for any plugin updates related to Platform Analytics, Data Visualization and UI builder is available and update to latest version

So you are saying that the drill down visualization that I have created should have followed the dashboard filter automatically since the Allow Chart interaction is enabled? So if this is not working this could be a plugin issue?
I am working on PDI (Xanadu)right now, you can try this at your end if you think there might be some issue that you are not able to see from your end.

Please send a message privately so that I can share my PDI credentials.

Thanks for replying @Bhuvan  . Can you please help me know the steps to create a drill down visualization in Platform Analytics? I need bar chart report first and then when a user should click on it it should open a list type report in Platform Analytics.

Thanks,

Harsha

Please see below high level steps to create data visualization. Based on your table and filter conditions change it accordingly

Go to Platform Analytics -> Library -> Data Visualizations -> Create data visualization

Select Vertical bar chart type

Under Data sources section -> Add data source. Select the table and provide filter conditions. You can also add indicators in data source based on your requirements

Select Group by field based on which data visualization will be grouped and data will be presented

Bhuvan_3-1757850367516.png

Make sure Chart interaction section 'Allow chart interaction' is enabled and default option of Go to data view is selected

Save the data visualization and you can also add it to new or existing dashboard

Make sure data is correct and settings of data visualization are reflected in dashboard [Allow chart interaction]

You can export dashboard or share it with users/roles/groups
