Asset tracking strategy field on hardware model.

Hello Experts,

I'm new to HAM and a bit confused about the purpose of the "Asset tracking strategy" field on hardware. The name suggests it's for tracking assets. Could someone explain its actual use and provide a simple real-time example?

Hi,

Asset tracking strategy drives if assets should be created for Configuration Item connected to the Model.

The options are:

 

  • Leave to Category: model is transparent and the category defines the asset class.
  • Create Consumable Asset: model forces the asset class to be consumable, regardless of what the category defines as the asset class.
  • Don't create assets: model blocks asset instantiation, regardless of what the category defines as the asset class.
