ATF: How to verify a record created in the related list via test step

I am recreating the demand process from the PPM module and i need to verify a budget was created from the related list link. How do i verify a budget form is attached to the demand. i tried to use the "Open a record in List" test step but it is failing. any clues?

You can use record validation step to check whether any budget record is present for that specific demand

hi i have tried this step and it does not give the option to validate a record created from the related list? is this correct
