ATF - "Open a Record Producer (SP)" not behaving as expected

Hi Guys,

Have an issue that's been annoying me for a while. We are looking to increase the volume of Automated Tests we have within the platform however we are experiencing an issue with using the "Open a Record Producer (SP)" activity.

I have an ATF case with 2 steps:

  • Impersonate User: ITIL User (I know the best practice here is to create a new user - just doing this for testing and replicating the issue)
  • Open a Record Producer: <Record Producer>

When this ATF case actually runs in the Client Runner - once it gets to the Open a Recorder Producer (SP) activity the client runner appears to be redirected to our Service Portal. I can see in the URL there are still references to AFT and the like.

Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this behaviour?

Thanks for getting back to me.

Ended up logging a Support case with ServiceNow. Turns out we have some customisation in our instance which support have pointed us in the right direction of.

Hi,

the test step - Open a Record Producer (SP) would require service portal page as input and that is known behavior since this step is for Portal

you must have given the sp page and hence the form is opening in SP portal page

what is the issue being faced?

Thanks for getting back to me.

So - Once the step "Open a Record producer (SP)" happens, the ATF does not progress. It almost appears the activity has present the record producer outside of the client test runner.

 

When switching the window back to the progress of the ATF - the ATF is not actually progressing and times out after approx 10 mins.

 

The issue is the ATF case is not allowing any additional steps to execute once the "open a Record producer (SP)" occurs and opens the record producer on the portal.

while checking manually did you notice any browser console error?

any error when the 1st step runs

When I click "Cancel" the ATF case progresses.
