Auto populate fields based on module chose

i have two modules that point to the same table, table A, two modules access this table with the type "New Record",

on the form i have a field name incident type, types consist of Hardware and software. and i have a Hardware Module and Software module, I want the incident type field to auto populate with Hardware when the hardware module for new incident is selected and same for software. Right now im using a template and setting the template for each in the attributes of the modules, is there a way to do without using templates?

Hi @ServNowDev

you can go to the application module and pass on the argument :

&sysparm_query=name=test

where name is your field name, and test is the value
