Banner Logo (to go home) - How to redirect URL based on role

I created a new service portal for users with the snc_external role. I updated the SPEntryPage script include to handle redirecting these users to the new service portal named spex (versus sp) upon login. However, I can't seem to figure out how to modify the behavior of the banner's "go to home" functionality. When users with the snc_external role click on the instance name\logo, they are redirected to the main service portal (sp) versus the new service portal (spex). How can I override this behavior based on a condition?

This is built into the stock header widget of the portal. You may have to clone the header to edit the banner HTML part according to the roles and add it to the theme
